I love it when the weather starts to cool and Fall produce is featured at the farmer’s market. Why? Because it means that harvest is over and our family life resumes it’s normal pace. Family dinners are the best part of my day! I don’t have much time to cook on weekdays so we keep it simple and everyone pitches in with the prep. I’ve collected 5 of my favorite Fall recipes that I’m looking forward to making soon. Let me know on Facebook if you make any of these; I’d love to hear about it!
Orange Polenta Almond Cake with Port-Fig Syrup
This cake has the just right combination of tart and sweet to go well with a glass of Graciano or a port after dinner. In 2016, we will be releasing our new Late Harvest Graciano. My prediction is that it will be my favorite after dinner wine to go with this dessert!
Scrumptious Mushrooms and Blue Cheese
For a warm lunch, I like to use this mushroom dish to make panini with mushrooms, jamon, blue cheese and arugula. Markus loves these mushrooms on his burger!
Seared Duck Breasts with Persimmon Salsa and Red Wine Reduction
When I want to entertain with an Autumn meal that is unexpected, this is the recipe that fits that bill. Served with Bokisch Monastrell, this will make you seem like a chef extraordinaire!
I love to serve this when we have a crowd for wine tastings because it seems to go well with every wine. There really is no bad choice. You can use just about any ingredients that you can get fresh and in season. Serve paella with allioli and crusty french bread. Olé!
This is just the best salad to serve in the Fall, when persimmons and pomegranate are in season. ‘Nuff said.
