The crunchy Wonton shells with the sweet and salty carnitas are a mouth watering combination! You can make the crispy Wonton shells in advance or substitute with Tostito Scoops for a crowd pleasing appetizer. The Hoisin sauce add a whole new dimension. Pair with our Tizona La Colada Bordeaux Blend!
Ingredients
- Carnitas or Pulled Pork (pre made)
- Hoisin Sauce
- 2-3 scallions, chopped
- Wonton wrappers
- Sliced almonds, toasted for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425 and spray a mini muffin tin with Pam.
- Place wonton squares in the muffin tin. Pleat to fit. Bake for 4-5 minutes until edges are browned. Remove and let cool.
- Heat the pulled pork or carnitas in the microwave.
- Mix with hoisin sauce to taste. Try one tablespoon at a time. A little goes a long way and you don't want it to end up too sweet!
- Place the meat in the crunchy wonton cups and top with chopped scallions and toasted almonds.
Notes
The wanton cups can be made a day in advance, just store in a zip lock. You can also use Tostito scoops!
This is all you need! The Hoisin sauce really gives it a special twist. Just careful not to add to much. You only need about 5 tablespoons per package.
Just fold the edges of the Wanton wrappers and make sure to push down the bottoms so they turn out flat and can stand on their own!
I also like to add just another drop of Hoisin on top and even some toasted sliced almonds for garnish.
This pairs especially well with our Tizona Malbec and La Colada Bordeaux Blend.
